“Mexican Mafia and Surenos ”

This course is recommended for Law Enforcement from all over the western U.S. who deal with Sureno Gang members or the Mexican Mafia prison gang and their associates. The Mexican Mafia organization is far reaching and continues to develop new ways of generating illegal money and committing acts of violence. They are active in Northern California, the SF Bay area, Fresno and other areas not normally thought of when referring to the EME.

This course will cover the current activity of the organization and new intelligence about changes in their operational trends. It will include current players, how the organization operates in prison and on the street, ways that they communicate, how they effect Sureno street gangs, and much much more.

The course curriculum will include the following topics:

Mexican Mafia history and Intelligence update

EME control of Sureno Street Gangs both directly and indirectly

Debriefing Techniques for EME and Surenos

New Intelligence about EME Trends and Methods

Maximizing Intelligence Gathering Efforts

Documenting Sureno and EME activity

Identifying EME activity in Northern and Central CA

Location of EME members and associates in Federal, State and local custody

Current parolees and probationers that are out and operating on behalf of the the organization

Course Information: This class is eight hours long, and will run from 0800-1700 hrs on 11/18/2021 at the Watsonville Civic Plaza, 275 Main St. 6th floor, Watsonville, Ca 95076. This course is being taught by Eric Patao of CDCR San Quentin and a specialist from the CDCR Office of Correctional Safety. There will also be a “Special Guest” participating virtually. Each student will receive a certificate of completion.

Registration to this course is limited to students who have meet the prerequisites mandated for full-time employment as an official in a law enforcement or administration of justice agency. Verification of current employment in law enforcement is required . There will be no exceptions.
