One Day Training Course
The Central Coast Gang Investigators are proud to present the following nine hour training course:
“Basic Gang Investigation - The Art of Investigating Gang Crimes ”
This "How To" course will teach you how to identify gang indicators and behavior, how to properly document gang information, how to prepare for court and how to testify about gangs. These techniques are relevant for Patrol, Investigators, Custody Personnel, Parole and Probation. If you deal with gang members this course is for you!
The course curriculum will include the following topics:
- Prison Gang Identification
- Documenting Gang Information
- Intelligence Development
- Court Orders and Search Warrants
- Source Documents
- Case Law
- Interview and Interrogation Techniques
- Determining if Crimes are Gang Motivated
- Resources that are Available to Your Agency
Course Information: This class is nine hours long, and will run from 0800-1800 hrs. This course is being taught by Michael Walker of the Watsonville Police Department, and Roy Morales of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office. Each student will receive a certificate of completion as well as reference materials.
Tuition: This course is $100 per student
POST Information: This course is POST certified (1073-23215-10) and is reimbursable Plan 4

Registration to this course is limited to students who have meet the prerequisites mandated for full-time employment as an official in a law enforcement or administration of justice agency. Verification of current employment in law enforcement is required . There will be no exceptions.
