One Day Training Course
The Central Coast Gang Investigators are proud to present the following eight hour training course:
“Prison Gang Investigation, Identification, and Parolee Contacts”
This course will teach you how to identify prison gang members and associates, prison gang intelligence, how each gang operates both in-custody and on the streets, covert communications, interview and interrogation techniques, documenting information. This course is designed for Federal Agents, Task Force members, patrol personnel, custody personnel, probation officers, and anyone else who deals with prison gang investigations, validations, or contacts. This class is brand new with new information that will be continually updated with the latest intelligence from CDCR and the different gang task forces on the streets!
The course curriculum will include the following topics:
Prison Gang Identification and Characteristics
Documenting Prison Gang Information
Intelligence Development and Tracking
Covert Communication and Decoding Techniques
Source Documents and Reporting
How to Gain the Most Intelligence from your Contacts with Parolees
Case Laws that Pertain to Prison Gangs and Parolees
Interview and Interrogation Techniques for Parolees
Understanding the Difference between Prison Gang activity and Street Gang Activity both In-Custody and on the Streets
Resources that are Available to Your Agency
Course Information: This class is eight hours long, and will run from 0800-1800 hrs. This course is being taught by Michael Walker of the Watsonville Police Department, Michael Brodie and John Jefferson of the CDCR SSU (Special Service Unit). Each student will receive a certificate of completion.
Tuition: This course is $100 per student (Current CCGIA members pay $75)
POST Information: This course is POST certified (1073-32180-09) and is reimbursable Plan 4

Registration to this course is limited to students who have meet the prerequisites mandated for full-time employment as an official in a law enforcement or administration of justice agency. Verification of current employment in law enforcement is required . There will be no exceptions.
