Nuestra Familia and Norteños

“Nuestra Familia and Norteño Intelligence and Investigation ”

This course is designed for law enforcement personnel throughout California who investigate or encounter Norteño criminal street gangs, the Nuestra Familia prison gang, and their associated criminal networks. The Nuestra Familia organization continues to evolve in both structure and operational methods, maintaining influence through organized criminal activity, intimidation, violence, and sophisticated revenue-generation strategies.

This course will provide current intelligence regarding organizational trends, operational changes, and emerging criminal methodologies occurring both inside custodial institutions and within street-level gang operations. Topics will include organizational structure, current leadership and key players, communication methods, prison-to-street influence, gang taxation and control systems, recruitment practices, intelligence gathering considerations, and the continued impact of Nuestra Raza and Nuestra Familia on Norteño street gangs throughout California and the Western United States.

The course will also examine the progression and evolution of gang membership from Norteño street gang affiliation, to involvement within Nuestra Raza, and ultimately the validation and indoctrination process associated with becoming a Nuestra Familia member. Attendees will gain insight into organizational expectations, influence, hierarchy, and the role each level plays within the broader Nuestra Familia structure.

The course curriculum will include the following topics:

Nuestra Familia history and Intelligence update

NF control of Nuestra Raza/Northern Structure and Norteño Street Gangs both directly and indirectly

Debriefing Techniques for NF/NS and Norteño members and associates

New Intelligence about NF/NS Trends and Methods

Maximizing Intelligence Gathering Efforts

Documenting Norteno and NF/NS activity

Identifying NF activity in places other than Northern California

How Norteño Ideology and indoctrination begins in juvenile hall.

How to determine if you have an active regiment in your jurisdiction.

How to tell if someone on your caseload is a Norteño, Nuestra Raza, or Nuestra Familia member/associate.

 

Course Information: This class is eight hours long, and will run from 0800-1800 hrs. Each student will receive a certificate of completion.

Registration to this course is limited to students who have meet the prerequisites mandated for full-time employment as an official in a law enforcement or administration of justice agency. Verification of current employment in law enforcement is required . There will be no exceptions.
