One Day Training Course

The Central Coast Gang Investigator Association is proud to present the following eight hour training course:

“La Nuestra Famila and Norteno Street Gangs ”

This course is designed for law enforcement personnel throughout California who investigate or encounter Norteño criminal street gangs, the Nuestra Familia prison gang, and their associated criminal networks. The Nuestra Familia organization continues to evolve in both structure and operational methods, maintaining influence through organized criminal activity, intimidation, violence, and sophisticated revenue-generation strategies.

This course will provide current intelligence regarding organizational trends, operational changes, and emerging criminal methodologies occurring both inside custodial institutions and within street-level gang operations. Topics will include organizational structure, current leadership and key players, communication methods, prison-to-street influence, gang taxation and control systems, recruitment practices, intelligence gathering considerations, and the continued impact of Nuestra Raza and Nuestra Familia on Norteño street gangs throughout California and the Western United States.

The course will also examine the progression and evolution of gang membership from Norteño street gang affiliation, to involvement within Nuestra Raza, and ultimately the validation and indoctrination process associated with becoming a Nuestra Familia member. Attendees will gain insight into organizational expectations, influence, hierarchy, and the role each level plays within the broader Nuestra Familia structure.

The course curriculum will include the following topics:

  • NF control of Norteno Street Gangs
  • Changes in how the organization functions
  • Maximizing Intelligence Gathering Efforts
  • Documenting Norteno and NF activities and members
  • Identifying NF activity in your jurisdiction
  • Intelligence Updates
  • Source Documentation
  • Testimony Preparation and considerations
  • Staff Manipulation by Gang members and Inmates

Course Information: This class is eight hours long, and will run from 0800-1700 hrs on 08/12/2026.

Location: This class is being held at the Watsonville City Council Chambers, 275 Main St. 4th floor, Watsonville, CA 95076.

POST Information: This course is POST certified (1073-23214-26-001) and is reimbursable Plan 4. STC certification number 4413-064558

Each student will receive a certificate of completion.

Registration to this course is limited to students who have meet the prerequisites mandated for full-time employment as an official in a law enforcement or administration of justice agency. Verification of current employment in law enforcement is required. There will be no exceptions. CCGIA reserves the right to refuse admittance to anyone they deem appropriate as well as all other rights.
